Mumbai’s Airport Braces for Protests as Taxi and Auto Unions Demand Fare Hike and Better Parking Facilities
Today, various taxi, autorickshaw, and cab unions have declared their intention to protest at Mumbai Airport Terminal 2. Citing concerns over fares and parking, the unions have specifically called for a rise in prepaid fares for taxis and improved parking amenities for private cabs, autos, and taxis.
Media reports have highlighted the unions’ affirmation that airport services will remain unaffected despite the protest. However, they have also indicated the possibility of future protests should their demands go unmet.
Meanwhile, a separate report has revealed significant growth in passenger traffic at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA). The airport has witnessed an impressive 33% surge in passenger numbers, reaching 1.27 crore during the third quarter of the year, signifying the region’s sustained air travel momentum.
