Andhra Pradesh Train Accident Update: Vizag-Raigad Passenger Train Collides with Stopped Special Passenger Train, Derailing Three Coaches.
thirteen lives were lost, and another fifty individuals suffered injuries when a passenger train overshot a signal and collided with another train on the Howrah-Chennai railway line in Andhra Pradesh. This catastrophe occurred mere months after the horrific three-train collision in Odisha, which claimed the lives of over 280 people, serving as a grim reminder of the vulnerability of rail travel.
The incident in question involved a special passenger train en route from Visakhapatnam to Palasa. This train had come to a halt on the tracks between Alamanda and Kantakapalle, near Kothsavatsala, due to a lack of signaling. Tragically, it was at this moment that the Vizag-Raigad passenger train collided with it from behind, resulting in the derailment of three coaches.
According to railway sources, the root cause of this tragedy can be attributed to human error. The loco pilot failed to notice the signaling issue, which ultimately led to this devastating collision. This accident serves as a stark reminder of the critical importance of ensuring the highest levels of safety and vigilance in the operation of our rail systems to prevent such devastating events in the future.
