In a bid to fortify and bolster the local healthcare infrastructure, the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) has meticulously devised a comprehensive blueprint, aiming to establish a network of 11 urban health and wellness centers (UHWC) across the twincity. With the inaugural ceremony marking the commencement of the first UHWC in the Indralok area of Bhayandar East on the auspicious day of May 1, the local administrative body was confronted with a daunting challenge when 10 out of the 11 MBBS doctors recruited by the state government to oversee the operations of the center unexpectedly tendered their resignations, citing the remuneration package of a meager Rs 60,000 per month.
Recognizing the gravity of the situation and the pressing need to extend these pivotal healthcare services to various corners of the twin-city, the civic administration swiftly moved to address the issue at hand. A proposal has been set forth to augment the compensation of the MBBS doctors by an additional Rs 20,000 from the municipal coffers. “In addition to the proposed 10 centers, the governmental authorities have greenlit the establishment of 24 more centers,” affirmed Deputy Civic Chief Sanjay Shinde, emphasizing the expanding scope of this crucial initiative.
Considering the imperative requirement of 35 qualified medical professionals to efficiently operate and manage the upcoming centers, the initial phase will witness the recruitment of 10 doctors, with the objective of overseeing the functioning of the 11 centers. An official proposal detailing the proposed amendments and provisions is anticipated to be expeditiously presented to the state government for approval, further underlining the civic administration’s commitment to enhancing and fortifying the local healthcare infrastructure for the well-being of the community.
