“After eluding law enforcement for an astonishing span of twelve years, Nasir Ali Khan, a 52-year-old convicted drug peddler, found himself back in police custody on Wednesday night. The central crime detection team of the Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) police successfully apprehended Khan in a late-night operation conducted in Mira Road.
Khan, a resident of Byculla, had originally faced legal action in 2007 when he was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Mumbai. The charges against him were related to his involvement in a drug-related case, and he was booked under the pertinent sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. However, Khan managed to escape parole, setting off a twelve-year-long game of cat and mouse with the authorities.
The diligent efforts of the central crime detection team finally paid off as they successfully tracked down and apprehended Khan, bringing an end to his extended period of evasion. The arrest underscores the persistence and commitment of law enforcement agencies in pursuing individuals evading justice, even after a significant passage of time.
Khan’s case serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by authorities in ensuring the accountability of individuals involved in drug-related offenses, and the successful resolution of this prolonged pursuit represents a significant victory in the ongoing battle against drug-related crimes in the region.”
